Chhattisgarh wins five national awards for excellence in POSHAN Abhiyaan

Raipur: Chhattisgarh today bagged five national awards for exemplary performance in POSHAN Abhiyaan. Chhattisgarh has secured second position in excellence awards under two categories.

The state was conferred with the award for second position in ICDS-CAS implementation and capacity building, convergence and behavioural change and community mobilization categories. Chhattisgarh also received three awards at the district level, block level and AWW, ASHA, ANM, AWH and LS level for leadership and convergence award.

Chhattisgarh Women and Child Development Director Janmejay Mahobey, Special Secretary V K Chhabalani and JPC POSHAN Abhiyaan Sajid Memon jointly received a citation and a cheque of Rs 50 lakh at the hands of Union Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Zubin Irani at a function here.

Besides, the union Women and Child Development ministry selected Durg district as the Best District, Kartala (Korba) as best development block, Sarguja (Batauli) and Durg district (Paatan) for the best team of aanganbadi workers, mitanins, surveyors, ANM. The selected team was awarded with a citation and a cheque of Rs 2.5 lakh.Durg district was awarded as the ‘best district’ in District level leadership and convergence award. Durg District Program Officer Kiran Singh and Chief Medical officer G S Thakur jointly received the award at the hands of Union Minister.  Kartala block in Korba district has been selected for block level leadership and convergence award. CDPO Dr Vidyanand Borkar, Block CEO J K Mishra and BMHO Dr Kumar Pushpesh jointly received the awards.

Under ICDS-CAS implementation award category, Chhattisgarh was awarded the second position under Group 1, for its constant efforts to place timely orders for smart phones and creating a poll of trained trainers and field functionaries in order to increase coverage of ICDS-Common Application Software.More than 11,851 master trainers and field functionaries have been trained and more than 11,300 Anganwadi workers have been using the mobile application since April 2018. Aanganbadi workers of seven districts of Chhattisgarh namely- Raipur, Durg, Mahasamund, Gariband, Balod, Bemetara and Kabeerdham have been using ICT-RTM system for sending data to the server of Government of India for online digital monitoring. Over 10 thousand Aanganwadi workers of these districts have been sending data using the software since one year. Use of various kinds of manual register has been stopped. It was a commendable initiative towards digitization.

Under the second category of continuous learning process, capacity building and community based activities; Chhattisgarh was awarded for doing time-bound goal-oriented work in all districts.Anganwadi workers, who received the (AWW, ASHA, ANM, AWH) and LS converegence award from Batauli in Surguja district were Anganwadi worker Rejina, Social health Activist Prafula Lakda, Auxiliary Nurse Midwife Ashunta, Anganwadi Helper Sunaina Tigga, Lady Supervisor Shanti Uikae. Anganwadi workers from block Patan in Durg district were Anganwadi worker Lata Sahu, Social Health Activist Sevti Sahu, Auxiliary Nurse MidwifeIndra Ahir, Anganwadi Helper Nuneshwari Sahu and Lady Supervisor Megha Mohril. POSHAN Abhiyaan was launched in 2017 with an aim to ensuring holistic development and adequate nutrition for pregnant women, mothers and children.
